Then it rained....
From the balcony I saw,
The roads,buildings and trees .
With a name tag of “City”
Toiling for existence!
Like a boat in the ocean,
I stood there and gazed.
She hugged and welcomed me
with a hot breeze.
The muggy and hot,
City in summer
Reminded me of a girl,
I met once in the street
The city personified before me
as the girl i met once...
A girl i met once in the street
Whom the world saw
With a tag ”Begger Girl”
Which I could not see!
Her torn clothes,
the tangled hair,
Her cry of hunger;
the cry for help
Clothed in sorrow,
smeared in mud,
Is not this City herself
be that girl!
The far away village I came from,
With hills and fields, serene and happy
clad in green and danced with breeze
With her beautiful locks and smile of innocence
With singing birds on wild weeds,
The dancing fields, with their beloved breeze
Though with an unimpressive tag of “Village”
Sleeps my village, the child of peace
Another hot breeze swept over me
Brought me back; back to the city.
Our painful eyes; met each other
And tears rolled, down our cheeks
I wished I could, pour on her
A stream of water, to wash the dirt
To bathe her in love, healing the wounds
And to clothe her in peace
Then I wondered; what
A mustard seed like me do,
Just to shed these meaningless tears
On such a vast and wide a city!
A drop of water, trickled on my palm,
And came the Mother Nature,
Shedding on us her love and affection,
With drops of rain and tickling hail storm
Then it rained!
Then it rained, washing sadness down
The city reincarnated as a girl dancing in joy
With her colorful skirt
And a smile on her lips….
